MS Dhoni, team evacuated after fire breaks out in Dwarka’s hotel


Delhi, March 17, 2017: Former Indian Captain MS Dhoni and his Jharkhand teammates were evacuated safely after a fire broke out in Dwarka’s Welcome hotel complex in Delhi on Friday morning.

The team was staying there for its Vijay Hazare Trophy match with Bengal that is to be played at the Palam Ground.

Delhi Fire Services said that no casualties were reported in the fire and added that they got a call around 6:30 am alerting them there was a fire inside the Welcome Hotel, which is located in Sector 10, Dwarka.

As many as 30 fire tenders were sent to the spot and the fire was brought under control at 7:50am.

However, the match has been postponed till Saturday since the team’s clothes and equipment were left in the hotel when they left.
