Karnal, June 1: A mosque in Haryana’s Karnal district was allegedly vandalised and several Muslim men were beaten up during Ramadan month after another community raised objections over prayers being offered there.
A case has been registered under different sections of the Indian Penal Code in this connection.The locals also raised objections to the use of loudspeakers for azaan.
Around 20 men in Karnal’s Newal village allegedly barged inside the mosque on Thursday and thrashed the people offering Namaz and also destroyed the loud speakers.

The locals even threatened of dire consequences if they dared to offer Namaz there.
The situation is under control even as police force has been deployed in the village as precautionary measure.The incident took place at around 9.15 pm on Wednesday, when some members of the Muslim community were reciting Azaan.
The controversy began after Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated that Namaz should be restricted to mosques or Idgahs rather than public areas.
Khattar defended the right-wing groups that openly objected to the namaz being offered in an open places in Gurgaon, he tactically directed the Haryana Waqf Board to allow Muslims to offer the Friday namaz on its properties.
Later, a few Hindutva organisations began their protest against offering namaz in the open.
