New Delhi, December 5: Former Finance Minister and senior congress leader P Chidambaram tweeted on Sunday that Modi government’s Income Declaration Scheme 2016 could have “more holes.”
There is a Rs 13,860 crore hole in the Rs 65,000 crore IDS! How many more holes?

The tweet was made after the Gujarati realtor Mahesh Shah claimed that Rs 13,860 crore announced as black money did not belong to him on a TV channel. The businessman was arrested by IT officials at the Studio there itself.
He said on TV, he did not have any black money and the declared “amount” belongs to “some Indians” and he would contact Income Tax department and give the names of those who had convinced him to declare their unaccounted income as his own.
Another IDS declaration of Rs 2,00,000 crore by a family from Maharashtra was put on a scanner by IT department on Sunday. The government also revised the total amount of black money disclosed under IDS 2016 as Rs 67,382 crore. The official statement also said that the revised figure does not take into account the disclosures made by the Sayed family and Mahesh Kumar Champaklal Shah of Ahmedabad as they were considered doubtful since the time they were declared.
