Mumbai, June 1 : Actress Mohena Kumari, who is best known for her role in the TV show “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai”, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

A day ago, IANS had reported that Mohena”s father-in-law Satpal Maharaj, who is Uttarakhand”s tourism minister, got contracted the COVID-19 infection.

Now, it has been reported that Mohena has also been infected. Her husband Suyesh Rawat and mother-in-law have also tested positive.

“Seven from our family have been tested positive for COVID-19, but we are doing fine now. Right now we are in the hospital. My brother-in-law”s latest report has come negative so he”s fine now. There are people too who have been infected but they are from the sanstha. We had very mild symptoms and we thought it must be because of the change in weather,” said Mohena, confirming the news, in an interview with Times Of India.

“But nobody has any kind of major symptom. Coronavirus is such that it spreads like a wild fire. First my mother-in-law got it but her symptoms were so mild that we couldn”t figure it out. It is our second day in the hospital, everyone is showing improvement and we will be fine soon. We are in quarantine now and getting our treatment done,” Times of India quoted her as saying.

New Delhi: India recorded a single-day spike of record 24,850 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking its total tally to 6,73,165 even as over 600 deaths in the last 24 hours increased the country’s death toll to 19,268, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data revealed.

As many as 4,09,083 patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals. India now has 2,44,814 active cases in the country.

On the global front, India is 399 cases away from beating Russia to become the world’s third worst-hit nation with the coronavirus pandemic. While India has 6,73,165 cases, Russia has 6,73,564 cases.

The United States remained the worst-hit country with 28,39,436 cases, followed by Brazil with 15,77,044.

With a spike of more than 7,000 cases in just one day, Maharashtra remained the worst- hit state with its total cases crossing the 2-lakh mark (2,00,064) and 8,671 casualties, of which 295 occurred in the last 24 hours.

Southern state of Tamil Nadu followed with 1,07,001 corona cases including 1,450 deaths. Tamil Nadu witnessed a spike of 4,280 cases and 65 deaths in just one day.

At the third spot, national capital Delhi witnessed a spike of 2,505 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total corona tally to 97,200. Delhi now has 25,940 active cases, with 3,004 deaths. As many as 68,256 patients have recovered and since discharged from hospitals.

States with more than 10,000 cases include Gujarat (35,312) with 1,925 deaths, Uttar Pradesh (26,554), Rajasthan (19,532), Madhya Pradesh (14,064), West Bengal (21,231), Haryana (16,548), Karnataka (21,549), Andhra Pradesh (17,699), Telangana (22,312) and Bihar (11,700) cases.

Jerusalem, July 5 : Israel’s Ministry of Health has reported 977 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 29,032.

The number of Covid-19 deaths increased from 326 to 330, while the number of patients in serious conditions increased from 77 to 84 out of 296 patients currently hospitalised, Xinhua reported.

The number of recoveries increased to 17,773, with 104 new recoveries, while the number of active cases hit 10,929.

Earlier on Saturday, Israeli police said that Israeli border police chief Yaakov Shabtai tested positive for the novel coronavirus, adding that his health condition is good.

As a result, Minister of Public Security Amir Ohana has entered home quarantine until July 12, after meeting twice with Shabtai in the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry said that Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, Defence Minister Benny Gantz and army chief of staff Aviv Kochavi will not have to undergo quarantine despite meeting with Shabtai on Thursday.

The overall number of global COVID-19 cases has increased to more than 11.1 million, while the deaths have soared to over 528,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

On Sunday morning, the total number of cases stood at 11,199,747, while the fatalities rose to 528,953, the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.

The US accounted for the world’s highest number of infections and fatalities with 2,838,678 and 129,672, respectively, according to the CSSE.

Brazil came in the second place with 1,539,081 infections and 63,174 deaths.

In terms of cases, Russia ranks third (673,564), and is followed by India (648,315), Peru (299,080), Chile (291,847), the UK (286,412), Mexico (252,165), Spain (250,545), Italy (241,419), Iran (237,878), Pakistan (225,283), Saudi Arabia (205,929), Turkey (204,610), France (204,222), Germany (197,198), South Africa (187,977), Bangladesh (159,679), Colombia (109,793) and Canada (107,185), the CSSE figures showed.

The other countries with over 10,000 deaths are the UK (44,283), Italy (34,854), Mexico (30,366), France (29,896), Spain (28,385), India (18,655), Iran (11,408), Peru (10,412) and Russia (10,011).
