New Delhi, Sep 4, 2017: Taking the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government into embrassement mode, a controversy has arose after the video of newly inducted minister in the cabinet Ananth Kumar Hegde beating up a doctor has resurfaced into media.
Hegde, a five-time parliamentarian from Karnataka, was caught on camera thrashing a doctor over his mother’s treatment.
In CCTV footage from the TSS hospital in Sirsi, the politician was seen grabbing a doctor by the throat and slamming him against a wall. He was seen assaulting and hitting the doctor. Another doctor was also allegedly beaten.
In images flashed across the media, the doctors displayed scars and gashes. Other hospital staff were allegedly pushed by the lawmaker’s aides.
The incident took place in January 2017. Hedge who spoke to media laster said he was seemingly enraged because the doctor denied to attend his mother, who had suffered multiple fractures after a fall and apologised for the incident.
However, due to media pressure, the Sirsi police filed a complaint against Hedge.
Last year, he was also booked with hurting religious sentiments after he said “As long as there is Islam in this world, there will be terrorism. Until and unless we root out Islam from this world, terrorism cannot be eradicated” He later defended the inflammatory comment too.
