New Delhi, April 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandla district.
Addressing the event on the eve of National Panchayati Raj Day, Modi said “I am delighted to be in Madhya Pradesh on National Panchayati Raj Day. Bapu always highlighted the importance of villages and spoke about Gram Swaraj”.
“When it comes to rural development, Budgets are important. But, there is a shift in the discourse in last few years. People are now talking about the need to ensure that money allocated for a project is utilised & it is done in a transparent manner”, he added.
The Prime Minister further stated, “Panchayati Raj Day is an opportunity to fulfil Mahatma Gandhi’s dream; the govt will support people’s representatives in villages in empowering their villages and people”.
He assured assistance to the Panchayati Raj in all the contributions to development of villages.
The objective of the scheme is to provide training, building infrastructure and stepping up initiatives for e-governance under the e-Panchayat Mission Mode Project.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated Aadi Mahotsava, a three-day program on the conservation of ancient Tribal culture and heritage at Ramnagar.
Following this, he will reveal a roadmap for the overall development of tribals during the next five years. Also, the Prime Minister will dedicate the local government Directory to the nation.
Modi will felicitate village Sarpanches which have achieved 100 percent smokeless kitchens, 100 percent vaccination under Mission Indradhanush and 100 percent electrification under Saubhagya Scheme.
Besides this, the Prime Minister will also unveil a plaque to mark the laying of foundation stone of an LPG bottling plant of Indian Oil Corporation at Maneri.
