Patna, Mar 1, 2017: Bihar’s minister for excise and prohibition Abdul Jalil Mastan has apologised for his controversial remark on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying “I apologise if my statement or statements of my people have hurt anyone.”
To protest against demonetisation, Mastan, who is also a Congress leader had got his supporters to hit PM’s photo with shoes and slippers in Purnia. The video which goes viral shows Mastan triggering supporters to do so and he is also heard using abusive language for PM. He had called PM a Naxalite too.
“He is not PM. He is a Naxalite, he is a terrorist, he is a dacoit and he troubles people in various ways,” Aubul Jalil Mustan had said.
This incident had arisen on February 22 at Armour constituency in Purnia when the Bihar minister had gone there to address a public meeting in protest of demonetisation.
Meanwhile, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar today completely denounced the contentious statement by Mastan on PM Modi. On being asked about his reaction on the issue, Nitish Kumar had said, “This is wrong.” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded Nitish Kumar to sack Abdul Jalil Mastan.
