New Delhi, July 8 : Senior Congress Leader Kapil Sibal on Sunday termed Narendra Modi government as “Lynch-Pujari” government after a shocking incident came to light in which Jayant Sinha, Union minister of state for civil aviation, honoured eight men, who were convicted in the Ramgarh lynching case in Jharkhand and were recently released on bail.
Stunned by the controversial move by the Modi’s minister, the Congress leader reacted by posting a tweet ,”8 accused convicted for lynching are garlanded by Jayant Sinha when granted bail .You got it wrong Modiji .They say your Government has become :Lynch-Pujari”.

In a satirical remark, Sibal said, ” You got it wrong Modiji .They say your Government has become :Lynch-Pujari”.
A mob in 2017, allegedly of more than 100 cow vigilantes, dragged Alimuddin alias Asgar Ali out of his car and lynched him to death in broad daylightin Ramgarh area of Hazaribagh ditrict , who was on his way back home after buying meat from a local market, on the suspicion that he was carrying beef.
A fast-track court in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district on March 21 this year sentenced 11 people, including one local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, to life imprisonment for the gruesome lynching.
It is evident that the government is not taking any steps to tackle the mob violence.
This shocking case of honouring the lynching convicts comes after the Supreme Court ruled that mob lynching is a crime, no matter what the motive is (Cow vigilantism or rumor of child abductor ) and termed it as a law and order issue thus putting the onus on the states to check cow vigilantism.
Earlier, Kapil Sibal on Tuesday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi why he did not talk about hate crimes in his “Mann ki Baat” programme.
