Modi asks Chief Secretaries to ensure drinking water in 500 towns

New Delhi, Oct 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked the Chief Secretaries of all states to ensure safe drinking water to residents of all 500 towns under AMRUT.

Chairing the 16th meeting of PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) here, the Prime Minister reviewed the progress of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

The platform is aimed at redressing the common man’s grievances, and simultaneously monitoring and reviewing important programs and projects of the central and state governments.

Modi said Hindi word ‘nagar’ can be taken to mean provision of ‘nal’ (water tap), gutter (sewerage) and rasta (roads). He said AMRUT should focus on citizen-centric reforms.
