Moderate intensity quake hits Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir


Shimla, Sep 8 Two moderate intensity quakes were felt in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. There was no loss of life reported.
The epicentre of both the quakes was in Chamba, bordering Jammu and Kashmir.

The first earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale was recorded at 5.30 a.m., while the second of 4.9 at 8.04 a.m., an official at the Meteorological office said.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located at a latitude of 32.9 degrees North, longitude 76.1 of East and depth 10 kilometres, in Chamba district.

Another earthquake of 4.9 magnitude was also experienced at 8:04 AM in Jammu and Kashmir and Chamba Border of Himachal Pradesh.
