New Delhi, Aug 29: Authorities conveyed that mobile phone services snapped across Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, has been resumed in five districts of Jammu region- Jammu region- Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri and Poonch.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik on Wednesday justified the imposition of severe restrictions after the Centre abrogated provisions of Article 370, saying it was done to prevent any loss of life.
Jammu and Kashmir was placed under a total clampdown on August 5, hours before the Centre’s move to abrogate provisions of Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Telephone line services, including mobile phones and landlines, were also suspended across the state.
Mobile phones and Internet remain cut off and movement of people is restricted and no political leader from Delhi relating to Opposition parties is allowed to enter the Jammu and Kashmir .
Congress leader Rahul Gnadhi and some prominent opposition parties leaders went to Srinagar but were detained and sent back to Delhi .
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said the party would continue to raise the issue of the continuing lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir and the denial of basic right to the people of the State.
