Mob Lynching in Jharlhand: One killed, 3 injured on suspicion of selling beef

Ranchi, Sep 23: In yet another incident of mob-lynching in Jharkhand’s Khunti district, one tribal was beaten to death by an irate mob and two are critically injured on Sunday for selling beef at Suari Jaltanda village.

DIG AV Homkar said, “Five people have been arrested and teams have been formed to nab other suspects.”

According to reports, a group of 12 to 15 men from neighbouring villages came to Jaltanda Suari village after news of cow slaughter spreads through text and WhatsApp messages and caught hold of the three men.

“The three men tried to run away upon seeing the crowd but were caught,” added the police. The deceased has been identified as Kalantus Barla and the injured as Fagu Kachhapand and Phillip Hahoro. All three are reportedly tribal Christians.

“On a tip-off received that some of the people were being beaten up by the villagers for selling beef; police team rushed to the spot and rescued three persons. One of them was admitted to a local hospital, while two others were referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi,” said Ranchi Range DIG Amol Venukant Homkar.
