Mizoram cuts from rest of India


Aizawl, June 7: The National Highway 54 of Mizoram is blocked by NGOs and student bodies continued protesting against the transfer of a doctor from a hospital without posting a substitute, said by an official.

Several hundred goods loaded trucks, passenger buses and small vehicles were stuck in Kolasib town, a police official said.

Kolasib police chief C. Lalzahngova said the blockade was peaceful.

The 850-km long NH 54 is the lifeline of Mizoram that connects the state with the rest of India through Assam.
