New Delhi, Jan 22: Delhiites are witnessing a misty morning with shallow fog in the national capital on Sunday.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.4 degree Celsius.
“The day is not expected to be cold as the day light is likely to improve,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The maximum temperature is likely to reach near 21 degrees Celsius.
The humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 92 per cent and visibility was 600 metres.
The Met department informed that while the minimum temperature was predicted to reach 10 degrees on Sunday, the icy Himalayan winds from the snow covered mountains in the northwestern region kept the mercury from rising further.
Saturday’s maximum and minimum temperature were recorded at 20.8 and 7.0 degree Clesius respectively.
Meanwhile Moderate rain and snowfall started on Sunday in Jammu and Kashmir, the weather office announced.“Widespread moderate rain and snowfall is expected to occur in the state up to January 26 under the influence of an active Western Disturbance (WD),” a Met official said.
Due to the heavy cloud cover there has been an overall improvement in the night temperatures.
The minimum temperature was minus 1.3 in Srinagar, minus 3.6 and minus 6.0 in Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
Jammu city recorded 9.1, Katra 9.9, Batote 3.9, Bannihal 1.6 and Bhaderwah 1 .5 as the night’s lowest temperatures.
