New Delhi, Nov 15: Union Minister for Woman and Child Development (WCD) Maneka Gandhi wrote a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Singh to probe reports of sexual harassment complaints in All India Radio (AIR) stations.

Through her letter, Gandhi asked Singh to ensure that a sensitive and fair system is put in place to address any such grievances in the AIR.

The development followed a letter written by the All India Radio Casual Announcer and Comperes Union (AICACU) last week.

In the wake ongoing #MeToo campaign several cases of alleged sexual misconduct have come into the limelight from different AIR stations across the country.

According to the Indian Express report, in these cases, which have taken place over the last few years, the victims — all casual women announcers, some of them working for two decades — have not assigned any work since they complained.

All accused are permanent officials — some of them were transferred, others got an all-clear.
