New Delhi, Oct 22: Singer Anu Malik, who has been accused of sexual misconduct, is no longer part of the jury panel of the singing-based reality show “Indian Idol” season 10, according to an official statement on Sunday.

He has been accused by singers Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit, who called him a “paedophile” and a “sexual predator”.

The statement from Sony Entertainment Television channel said: “Anu Malik is no longer a part of the ‘Indian Idol’ jury panel. The show will continue its planned schedule and we will invite some of the biggest names in Indian music as guests to join Vishal Dadlani and Neha Kakkar to judge the extraordinary talent of ‘Indian Idol’ season 10.”

Malik also shared a statement saying he is taking a break from the show. “I, Anu Malik, have decided to take a break from Indian Idol as I am currently unable to focus on my work on the show. The channel has been kind to agree for the same. Thank you,” Malik said.

After Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit accused Malik of sexual harassment, two budding singers levelled similar allegations against him.
