Softening her stand on government formation with BJP in Jammu and Kashmir,PDP president Mehbooba Mufti PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said she is not ‘stubborn’ but Centre must ensure that it will initiate confidence-building measures (CBMs) to create a congenial atmosphere for its functioning.
“I am not a stubborn person. But this is not about PDP and BJP. It is about central government and people of J&K,” said Mehbooba, while addressing a party function in Jammu. “I care about the dignity of people of J&K.”
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Friday met Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N.Vohra here.
“PDP president Mehbooba Mufti called on Vohra at the Raj Bhawan and discussed the political and developmental scenario in the state with the governor,” a PDP source told
The sources said Mufti had been invited for an informal meeting by the governor and she had called on him in response to that communication.
The meeting lasted for more than an hour.
Mufti told a membership rally of her party here earlier on Friday that her priority was strengthening of the party and not becoming the chief minister of the state.
Jammu and Kashmir was placed under governor’s rule on January 8 after Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed passed away in New Delhi on January 7, and the PDP, which was ruling the state in a coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party, did not come forward to stake claim to form a new government.
A political stalemate between the PDP and the BJP over government formation in the state has been continuing for nearly two months now.
