New Delhi, April 28: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday declared the final results of its 2017 civil services examination. It released the list of the candidates who clinched the prestigious exam with the ranks that the candidates had obtained.
Durishetty Anudeep sealed the to spot, while Anu Kumari grabbed second rank and Sachin Gupta third.
More than 9.5 lakh candidates applied for 2017 UPSC preliminary examination. Out of which, 4, 56, 625 candidates appeared.
While 13,366 candidates qualified for the Written (Main) Examination which was conducted in October-November last year, only 2,568 candidates qualified for the Personality Test conducted in February-April 2018.
Followed by this, the commission recommended a total of 990 candidates (750 males and 240 females) for appointments to various services.
Here’s list of top five achievers:
1st Rank: Anudeep Durishetty
With five attempts, Twenty-eight-year-old Durishetty topped the UPSC exam. His father is an assistant divisional engineer and mother is a homemaker, Durishetty belongs to Hyderabad’s Metpalli town in Jagitial district.
In his second attempt in 2013, Anudeep got the IRS cadre and was appointed as a customs and central excise officer.
At present, he is serving as an Assistant Tax Commissioner in Hyderabad.
2nd Rank: Anu Kumari
Haryana’s Anu Kumari, who is a mother of 4-year-old, secured the second rank.
She attained this victory in her second attempt with her hopes high and hardcore dedication.
Anu not only fulfilled her household responsibilities but took out 10-12 hours every day for her preparations.
3rd Rank: Sachin Gupta
Sachin Gupta is a mechanical engineer hails from Sirsa, got the third rank. He quit his job to join a coaching institute in Delhi.
It took two attempts for Gupta to seal the spot in the civil services exam.
In his first attempt in 2016, the Sirsa candidate got all India rank 575.
4th Rank: Atul Prakash
The 24-year-old Atul Prakash clinched the fourth rank. Hailing from Buxar in Bihar, Prakash is an alumnus of IIT-Delhi.
This was Prakash’s second attempt. His father is a chief engineer in the construction wing of ECR at Mahendru in Patna. He studied in various railway schools.
5th Rank: Pratham Kaushik
The 24-year-old, Materials and metallurgical engineer, Pratham Kaushik stood 5th rank.
This was Kaushik’s second attempt at the UPSC exam.
