Mastermind of fake coin racket forfeited


New Delhi, July 7: Mastermind of fake coins Upkar Luthra has been arrested from Kondli in haryana.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said Upkar, 50, was arrested with fake coins coins of Rs 5 with face value of Rs 8,500.

He has a reward of Rs 1,00,000 on his head, was involved in the murder of his partner.

Luthra was operated from Nepal while his brother Sweekar managed operations in India, police said.

In December, police arrested Sweekar and recovered counterfeit coins with face value of Rs 17,390 from his possession.

The gang purhased the machinery from Mayapuri and Tilak Nagar and carved out shape of coins from metallic sheets and then prepared coins using heating and hydraulic machines.

They also sprayed an anti-rust liquid on the coins before they were supplied to toll centres, in various parts of Delhi, Rajasthan and Haryana.
