Mumbai, Aug 2 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is chairing a meeting of party MLAs and senior leaders over Maratha reservation issue in Mumbai on Thursday, as the members of the Maratha Kranti Morcha turned down a government plea for holding dialogue. The protesters have not reached the venue yet.

The government has appealed  to Maratha leaders to come forward for a dialogue with the government, but they have refused to attend the meeting.

The protesters said that they do not want to interact with the government as they keep promising but never implement those promises of reservation. The protesters at Azad Maidan are organising a silent protest.

The BJP leaders have also been told to reach out to the community in their constituencies and address their concerns.

The Maratha Kranti Morcha (MKM) has given a call of statewide “jail bharo andolan” on August 9.

Pro-quota groups led by the Maratha Kranti Morcha held a ‘jail bharo’ agitation at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai on Wednesday while local groups in some parts of the state also held similar protests, demanding immediate implementation of reservations in jobs and education for the community.
