Mann ki Baat LIVE UPDATES: PM Modi lauds Hima Das for winning historic gold

New Delhi, July 29 :Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the achievements of athletes Hima Das, Ekta Bhyan and applauded their efforts and dedication as he addressed the nation on Sunday through his monthly radio programme, Mann ki Baat.

In today’s programme PM Modi appealed to the nation to care for the environment, celebrate eco-friendly Ganesh Utsav and encouraged the youth to instill and revive their spirit to serve the nation.

He also remembered freedom fighters Lokmanya Tilak and Chandra Shekhar Azad, whose birth anniversary was observed last week, on July 23, as he appealed to the citizens to follow their footsteps.

PM ended the show by saying, “The month of August is significant because it is filled with historically important dates and festivals. I wish all of you best wishes for good health, for this month of August. We will meet once again for Mann Ki Baat next time.”

PM said, “Yogesh Qathuniaji won gold medal in discus throw in Para Athletics Grand Prix and in the process bettered the world record along with Sundar Singh Gurjar who also won the gold medal in javelin. I salute Ekta Bhyanji,Yogesh Qathuniaji and Sundar Singh Ji.”

PM lauded athlete Hima Das for winning gold in 400m. “Just a few days ago, in Junior U-20 World Athletics C’ship India’s brave daughter Hima Das made history by winning gold medal in 400m race event. Ekta Bhyan, another daughter of the country has won gold & bronze medals in World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2018,” he said.

Modi said, “There are many examples, Prince Kumar,Delhi whose father is a DTC bus driver, Abhay Gupta,Kolkata who studied under street lights or Afreen Sheikh,Ahmedabad whose father is an auto driver, all of them with their strong will & determination overcame hurdles & achieved success.”

 

The 46th episode of his radio address was broadcasted on All India Radio(AIR) and Doordarshan at 11 am.

 

 

PM Modi is in Lucknow to inaugurate investment projects today.

He reached Lucknow on Saturday to mark the three-year anniversary of his government’s flagship urban development schemes — AMRUT, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna and Smart Cities mission.
