New Delhi, June 25: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will not attend Congress leader Saifuddin Soz’s book launch in the national capital on Monday.
The Congress as a party has already described Soz’s remark as “cheap gimmick” to sell his latest book.

We have nothing to do with his statement. Kashmir is an integral part of India and this fact can never be changed,” said Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala. “This was a cheap trick by him to sell his book,” he added.
Former Union minister P Chidambaram also decided to skip the launch event for Soz’s book.
In his upcoming book, Soz said that former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf’s assessment over a decade ago that Kashmiris will “prefer to be independent” if they are given a chance to “exercise their free will” seems to be “correct even today”.
He stated, “Musharraf said Kashmiris don’t want to merge with Pakistan, their first choice is independence. The statement was true then and remains true now also. I say the same but I know that it is not possible”.
Soz goes on to write in his book that central government should first open dialogue with the Hurriyat Conference before moving to mainstream parties to find a solution to the Kashmir issue.
