New Delhi, Aug 27: Union Minister and a leading animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi on Friday condemned the Kerala government’s decision to kill stray dogs, and called it “unlawful and unscientific”.

While reacting to the Kerala Cabinet’s decision to kill “dangerous” stray dogs, Gandhi, said: “This is an excuse to kill any dog.”

She also raised out the question to state government where the money has gone given for sterilisation of dogs.

“Where is the money given by Animal Welfare Board of India to Kerala for sterilisation of dogs? Where has that gone?” she asked.

Meanwhile, the Kerala government on Thursday sanctioned Rs 5 lakh compensation for the family of 65-year-old woman Sheeluamma who was killed by dozens of stray dogs on August 19, barely 10 km from the state secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram.
