Man held for carrying knife during Panneerselvam’s visit

Chennai, Aug 6: A man carrying a knife was detained while waiting at the Trichy airport to greet former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Sunday, police said.

When Panneerselvam, who was given CISF security cover recently, came out of the airport, large number of his supporters rushed towards him. During the rush, a person identified as Solairajan fell down. Security personnel noticed a knife he had and detained him.

Police identified him as Solairajan and said he was a barber by profession and he carried the knife only for self-defence. However, he was taken way by the police for further questioning.
