New Delhi, Oct 20: A 38-year-old man was held under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act in the connection with the involvement of human trafficking, Delhi Police said on Thursday.
Damodar Pandey working as a manager of a brothel on the GB Road, was held on Tuesday in wee hours during a raid near the NPL Parade Ground in Kingsway Camp in central district.
Pandey was arrested for allegedly trafficking girls and forcing them into flesh trade, police said.
Police informed that the particular brothel was operated by a couple, Saira Begum and Afaq Hussain, who were apprehended in August.
“We have started a massive action to curb activities of a criminal syndicate involved in human trafficking and prostitution on the GB Road; we have invoked provisions of MCOCA against them,” Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP), Crime Branch, Ravindra Yadav said.
Meanwhile, Police is also on a hunt for those involved in the trafficking racket.
