Kolkata, Oct 2: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday thanked the people, Durga Puja committees and authorities for making the festival joyous, peaceful and well disciplined.
She also acknowledged the clubs and organisers in the state for providing “total cooperation and overwhelming support” in resulting the festival a grand success.
“At the end of Durga Puja, the biggest festival in the world, I would like to thank the crores of people who visited the puja mandaps and participated in the festivities and made the festival celebration so joyful,” Banerjee said on her Facebook page.
“I thank the police and civil administration for their tireless endeavour to make the puja celebration smooth, peaceful and disciplined,” she added,
Asserting that some of the renowned puja organisers would be participating in the Durga Puja carnival at Kolkata’s Red Road on October 3, she welcomed everyone to be part of the “beautiful event”.
The Durga Puja carnival was first organised in Kolkata last year, where 30 famous pujas from the city and districts participated in a colourful roadshow along with their respective Durga idols and replicas of the puja pandals.
