Kolkata, November 12: As reports regarding public inconvenience and government’s unpreparedness to handle the currency distribution system post demonetisation are going viral, political parties are unanimously hitting out prime minister Modi’s decision to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday raked up a debate by calling currency ban as a “big black scandal”and demanded withdrawal of the Narendra Modi-led central government’s decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.

“This has turned out to be a big black scandal. Hardship for the common citizens and full advantage to the money launderers. I have said this before, but given the way the young, old and everyone is suffering let me again appeal to the Central government to withdraw this ‘black’ political decision which is anti-commoner,” tweeted Banerjee.

The Trinamool Congress supremo wrote a poem to decry demonetisation, and noted that India’s purchasing power is crashing.

“Markets across India ruined, purchasing power crashing, people in pain,” she recorded in another of her tweets.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal too demanded rollback of the decision to demonetise Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes. He also said that the economy will collapse in the coming days if the decision was not withdrawn.
