New Delhi, Nov 6: Describing the Narendra Modi government’s demonetisation move a “disaster”, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee asked people to use black display picture on  the micro-blogging website on November 8.

Her remarks came just two days ahead of the first anniversary of note ban. Meanwhile, the opposition has also decided to observe as ‘Black Day’ across the country.

Banerjee called for a protest against the demonetisation which she described as a “scam that destroyed the economy”, and asked others to change their Twitter DP to black.

The West Bengal CM said on twitter “Note ban is a disaster. On November 8 Black Day to protest against this scam that destroyed the economy, let us also change our Twitter DP to black”

Banerjee also hit out at the central government for the implementation of the Goods and Services tax.

Mocking the single tax regime , she termed it as Great Selfish Tax (GST) adding its aim to harass the people, hurt businesses and finish the economy, adding the government of India has totally failed to tackle the situation.
