Malware attack hits India’s largest container port JNPT

June 28, Wednesday : A major malware attack on Tuesday, crippled computers of several leading global companies and central banks across the world including India’s largest container port Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust ( JNPT) in Mumbai.

As per the news agency PTI, operations at one of the three terminals of JNPT were affected as a fallout of the global ransomware attack, which also infected some central banks and many large corporations in Europe.

“We have been informed that the operations at GTI have come to a standstill because their systems are down (due to the malware attack). They are trying to work manually,” a senior JNPT official told PTI last night.

According to security software maker Kaspersky Lab, Russia and Ukraine were most affected by the thousands of attacks, among the victims including  Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and the United States.

However, the total numbers of malware attacks was unknown.
