Maharashtra: 23 arrested in Rainpada Lynching, says Police


Mumbai, July 2: In yet another shocking incident of lynching, five people were killed in Rainpada village of Maharashtra’s Dhule district on Sunday after locals suspected them of being child lifters. 

On the related note, a case has been registered against the accused and around 23 persons have been arrested so far.

Speaking to ANI Dhule SP said “We’ve registered a case and arrested 23 people till now. On basis of photos&videos of the incident, we’ve identified some more accused and have sent 5 teams to search for them”.

One of the villagers said, “There were rumours that they are child lifters and would kill villagers to take out their kidneys but question is who told them that. This incident is scary”.

Meanwhile, the police also appealed to people that if a similar incident comes to anyone’s notice they must inform the cops, adding, Kindly do not believe in rumours circulating on social media and WhatsApp.

Recently on Thursday,  Zahir Khan, who belonged to Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh was lynched and three others injured in a mob attack near Agartala.

Last month, in a similar incident, two men were killed by the villagers of Panjuri Kacharigaon in Assam’s Karbi Anglong on the suspicion of child lifters.
