Mumbai, Nov 3: A man-eater tigress named Avni (T1) was killed in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal last night.
The search operation came after nearly three months of a massive tigress-hunt with a team of forest department officials and spotters.
The Maharashtra Forest Department had earlier issued shoot-at-sight orders against the tigress.
According to the reports, she had claimed lives of 14 people in the Pandharkawda forest.
Her postmortem will be conducted at Gorewada Rescue Centre in Nagpur.
Locals in Yavatmal celebrated after ‘man-eater’ tigress Avni (T1) was killed.
On October 16, the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court had sought reply about the change in the sequence of steps to be taken to address the issue as mentioned in the PCCF’s (Principal Chief Conservator of Forests) order as opposed to the CCF’s (Chief Conservator of Forests) order.
