The Maharashtra government today decided that terror, rape with murder, narcotics, smuggling will not be granted any parole in future.
Parole for rape and killing convicts has been banned by the government on the issue of killing of Pallavi Purkayastha who was went missing earlier this year.
Rapists will no longer be allowed to leave jail on parole in Maharashtra. Laws for temporary release from jail will also be reworked for murder convicts on death row and those found guilty of child trafficking and drugs.
The new rules were announced in the aftermath of a convict in a gruesome murder case jumping parole from Nashik central jail.
