Mumbai, Nov 22: Thousands of farmers and tribals under the under the banner of Lok Sangharsh Morcha on Thursday marched towards Azad Maidan in Mumbai to press for their long pending demands.
The Morcha had begun from Kalyan yesterday. The protesters are demanding implementation of the Swaminathan Committee Report, compensation for drought, farm loan waiver, land rights and transfer of forest rights to tribals among others.
This comes nearly eight months after a similar agitation.

The Maharashtra unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also extended support to the agitation.
Farmers from North Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Ahmednagar and other parts of the state are reportedly participating in the protest.
Over 35,000 farmers from across Maharashtra, led by Left-affiliated All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), held a rally from Nashik to Mumbai on March 12 in protest to press for their demands.
