At least eight persons were killed, 12 wounded and 10-15 others are feared trapped under the debris after a three-storey dilapidated building collapsed in Thane district’s Bhiwandi town on Sunday.
After the incident took place, four fire tenders have been rushed to the spot and the National Disaster Response Force team (NDRF) has also called in for rescue operations.
However, Officials said that heavy rains were affecting the rescue operation.
The incident occurred in Gaibinagar locality famous for its powerlooms, around 35 kms north of Mumbai.
It was yet to be ascertained whether the structure was in the list of dangerous buildings.
