Madhya Pradesh: Denied ambulance, woman forced to give birth in bus

Chhatarpur, July 17: Yet in another case of medical apathy, a pregnant woman was forced to give birth in a moving bus after being allegedly denied an ambulance by community hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur area.

The medical representatives of the community hospital allegedly turned away a pregnant woman and referred her to a district medical centre.

The hospital didn’t even provide transportation to the woman in pain. She later gave birth in an unsanitary condition inside a moving bus, ANI reported.

Victims husband told media “I had taken her to a community hospital, from there she was referred to a district hospital. No vehicle was provided by the community hospital so I took a bus to district hospital. She delivered the baby on way”.

However, this is not the first incident of medical negligence. Last week a man brought dead body of his mother on a motorcycle for the post-mortem after being allegedly denied hearse van by district hospital in Mohangarh district of Madhya Pradesh.

In May, a man carried the dead body of his wife on his shoulders on being denied a hearse van in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun.
