Bhopal, Sep 4: Four of a family including two children drowned after their car plunged into a river in Bhind district late on Monday night. There were seven people in the car but three of them were rescued by locals.

The incident took place near a bridge on Besli river under Mehgaon police station of the district at around 11.45 pm on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Om Prakash Pateriya, 40, a transporter by profession, along with his wife Lata Pateriya, 36, and two children – a son and a daughter -Divya, 12 and Shirnarayan, 10.
The Besli river in Bhind has been flowing 12 feet above the normal mark due to the incessant rainfall over the last couple of days. On Saturday, villages in Bhind region were subjected to flood-like situation. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been kept on alert.
