Padma Shukla resigns from BJP, joins Congress

Bhopal, Sep 24: A cabinet minister of Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Madhya Pradesh government, Padma Shukla on Monday joined the Congress ahead of assembly elections. 

“I tried to work with Madhya Pradesh Minister Sanjay Pathak for two years, but that seemed impossible. He used to humiliate BJP workers. It was hurting me and damaging self-respect of my workers”,  Shukla told media.

Earlier in a day, she resigned from the primary membership of Bharatiya Janata Party. ahead of assembly elections.

Shukla also held a post of Madhya Pradesh public welfare board Chief.

She joined the rival party in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath and other senior leader.

Knew would lose, Party forgot agenda of development: BJP MP

New Delhi, Dec 11: Expressing surprise over Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections results, BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kakade on Tuesday said that knew we would lose in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, adding party forgot the agenda of development that Prime Minister Narendra Modi took up in 2014.

“I knew we would lose in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh but MP trends have come as a surprise. I think we forgot the issue of development that Modi took up in 2014”, he told ANI.

The Parliamentarian further stated, “Ram Mandir, statues and name changing became the focus”.

Congress suspects EVM manipulation in Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 11: With the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) headed for a landslide victory in the state’s Assembly elections, the Congress on Tuesday voiced the suspicion that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) were manipulated.

State Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that 100 per cent counting of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) be taken up.

He asked all Congress candidates to submit letters to returning officers concerned for counting of paper trails.

Congress, which headed the four-party People’s Front, was leading in just 21 constituencies while the TRS was ahead in 87.

This Result is a gift for Rahul Gandhi: Sachin Pilot

Jaipur, Dec 11: Rajasthan Congress Chief Sachin Pilot on Tuesday said that the result of assembly elections is a gift for party president Rahul Gandhi. 

“Party President Rahul Gandhi became party president exactly a year ago this day, so this result is a gift for him. Congress will form Govt in three states”, he told media.

“Trends make it clear that Congress is forming Govt in Rajasthan with full majority, we had 21 seats last time. We should wait for the final numbers. Congress leadership and MLAs will decide who will get what role”, he said.

Regarding a new Chief Minister, Pilot said: “The Congress high command and the MLAs will collectively decide”.
