Bhopal, July 3: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader assaulted a woman police officer and tore her uniform in Madhya Pradesh’s Tikamgarh district.
The police on Tuesday said BJP leader Mubendra Singh has been arrested in connection with the incident, IANS reported.
The Sub-Inspector had stopped a motorcycle for rash driving after it hit a child on Monday.
Singh was riding the vehicle along with a pillion rider. The incident took place while vehicles were being checked in Lidhora area, Additional District Superintendent of Police Surendra Jain stated.
Upset at being stopped, Singh and his accomplice Pankaj lashed out at the officer, slapped and punched her and even tore her uniform before fleeing from the scene. But a police team nabbed Singh, Jain told media.
This comes at the time when India is already stunned by the brutal rape of an eight-year-old girl in Mandsaur which triggered public outrage across the country.
Not only this, in a similar incident another minor was raped in Satna on Sunday.
