LPG cylinder to cost more from today


New Delhi, June 1 :After the consecutive increase in petrol and diesel prices, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder was hiked on Friday by Rs 2 .34 per cylinder.

After the hike, a 14 kg domestic LPG cylinder will cost Rs 493 .55 per cylinder while the cost of non- subsidised LPG cylinder has been hiked by Rs48 in Delhi.

Correspondigly,the commercial cylinder used by hotels and resturants will now cost Rs 1244.50 in the capital.With effect from June 1, the revised price of subsidised LPG cylinder in other metropoitan cities are: Kolkata- Rs 496.65, Mumbai- Rs 491.31 in and Chennai- Rs 481.84 .

The Narendra Modi-led government had stormed to power in 2014 on the issue of rise in prices of commodities like cooking gas, against which the BJP had raised its voice.

Interestingly, the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was revised more than 22 times by oil marketing companies (OMCs) like Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) since May 2014, when the BJP government took charge.
