Lord Ram will not help BJP to win 2019 elections: Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar, Nov 1: National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Thursday took a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party saying they think Lord Ram will help them to win 2019 elections, but it is the people who will vote not the god.

“They (BJP) think that Lord Ram will win them the 2019 elections. The God will not help them win the elections, it is the people who will vote, neither Lord Ram nor Allah will vote, he told media.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court listed hearing in January on a batch of petitions challenging the 2010 Allahabad High Court judgement trifurcating the disputed site in Ayodhya into three parts — for Ram Lalla, Nirmohi Akhara and the original Muslim litigant.

The listing of the matter for January could prolong the hearing in the case for a few months — by when the country would be in election mode because of the Lok Sabha elections due in April-May 2019.

Meanwhile, the opposition accused the saffron party of raking Ram Temple issue ahead of general polls. On the other hand the RSS, the VHP mounted pressure on the central government calling for a law.
