Gurgaon, Feb 2 : Commenting about the ongoing Ram temple debate, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav said that the issue is being raked up by BJP and PM Modi only when general elections approach.
The Ayodhya issue is closely associated with the the BJP’s agenda for this year’s Lok Sabha polls.Hindu saints have promised to start the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya from 21 February.
Speaking at a rally in Gurugram, Yadav shared a joke involving Lord Ram and Sita in ‘heaven’. “Bhagwan Ram aur Sita maiya swarg mein, Bhagwan Ram ko hichki aati hai. Sita maiya poochti hai kyu hichki aarahi hai, Ram ji kehte hain chunaav saamne aagaya hai, BJP yaad kar rahi hai (Bhagwan Ram and Sita are in heaven and Ram suddenly starts getting hiccups. Sita asks him why, to which Ram says since elections are around the corner, people were remembering him.),” he said, adding that the joke was doing rounds in his home state of Bihar.
Attacking Modi for silencing the voices that speak against the BJP led NDA government, the RJD leader said the PM is forgetting the fact that “if he is the ‘chowkidaar’ (gatekeeper), people of the country are ‘thanedaars’ (law keepers). “People who speak the truth are being punished. When you ask questions, then people in power, instead of answering your questions, spread venom in society. The PM is forgetting that if he is ‘chowkidaar’, then people of the country are ‘thanedaar’,” he said.
