Look your best during Dandiya nights with perfect make-up

Published

New Delhi, Sep 26: It’s that time of the year again when nine days of fasting and feasting take over our lives. As you get your outfit and jewellery together for those garba nights, it’s important to look into your makeup as well.

And if you want to look your best during the time of festivities? Opt for HD (high definition) make-up products, emerald green eyeshadow and soft coral lip shades, suggest experts.

Make-up experts Gunjan Gaur from ALPS Beauty Clinics and Aashmeen Munjal have listed make-up tips:

* Base: After the application of primer or BB crème, it’s time to apply high definition silicon base. The presence of minute crystal particle makes the skin glowing and gives an even finish. It gives an illusion effect to your make-up and makes you look scintillating even in the presence of lights. In order to look natural, HD make-up is suggested.

* Ethnic Eyes: Get those oh-so-sexy eyes with some hot eye shadows in shades of charcoal brown, deep bronze, and smokey black. You can’t go wrong with these for your ethnic look. If your skin tone is brown, then emphasise your eyes with a shade of emerald green. Put on some sparkling metallic shades like bronze, gun-metal grey or even gold, in keeping with the festive spirit.

* Cheeks: Use sculpting serum with blush on shades like peach, mild gold or blend of both peach and gold. If you want to avoid peach then blend gold with the lightest shade of your attire from your make-up palette.

* Contour: Try with a dark brown shade of blusher on the edges of your nose — over the chin to camouflage your double-chin and endow your face with a chiselled look this Dandiya night.

* Lips: Go light on the lips with soft corals. On the flip side, if you are a fan of darker colours, orange and deep red is the key for that contemporary bold and traditional look at the same time.

If your eye make-up is dark, let the lip make-up remain light and vice-versa.

* Hairstyle: Usually women who have long flowing long hair leave it open to make a style statement. The flowering bun is a really trendy option, all you have to do is make a simple knotted bun behind your head. Decorate it with a flower like sunflower or dahlia on the side or something as basic and elegant as a gajra.

The flower should cover at least half of your bun. Or if you want to avoid any of the floral made-ups, accessorise your hair bun with hair accessories like kundan pins, delicate kundan work chains to hold your bun.

You could also go for a fish braid, messy bun, side braid or any other braid-style to be the limelight of the Dandiya occasion.

* Nails: Splashing a few poppy hues of neon shades onto them. Hot pinks, luminous reds, poppy oranges, gleaming greens, brilliant yellow are some of the nail paints you could experiment with.

* Beauty spots: Dandiya is the only occasion probably in which black dots/bindis can be flaunted with innate grace — that too over any part of body. These dots add a dash of girly charm when drawn in a proper manner on chin, corners of the eyes, forehead, wrist, ankle or arms.

Published

Valentines day date

Mumbai, Feb 12: Confused what to wear on your date this Valentine’s Day? Opt for flirty ankle strap heels or playful pumps with a bardot neckline tiered dress or just the classic little black dress to woo your partner, suggest experts.

Tushar Ved, President of Major Brands India Pvt. Ltd., Charles & Keith and Shilpee Sharma, Head of design and StyleHub, Shoppers Stop, have listed tips on what to wear this Valentine’s Day.

Valentines day date

Shoe tips:

** Ankle strap heels: Ankle strap heels are a must-have this season. Sophisticated and chic, these look effortlessly on trend with any outfit. Sling backs and ankle straps accented in metallic buckles, floral eyelets and criss-cross pleats are ideal for the much needed stability in your stride. Be date-ready in candy colours, subtle golds and deep maroons.

** Pumps: Classic pointed pumps are stylish. It is one of the most versatile styles. Pumps look great with cropped pants, mini-skirts, and, well, just about anything for the perfect date. Styled in vibrant prints, embossed textures and embellished mesh details, pair these pumps with your favourite sling/clutch to complete the look.

** Sneakers: The minimal look is here to stay. Globally, designers continue to show their love to this most wearable style. The humble sneaker is undoubtedly the biggest footwear trend of the year and has kicked off a total fashion revolution. Sported by models, celebrities, bloggers and designers, sneakers have worked for almost all occasions as a fashion statement.

** Classic sliders: Classic sliders in pastel hues are the ideal accessory this summer. The ease to slip on and off make slides the perfect companion for a beach sundowner or poolside party.

Dressing tips:

** Brunch date look: A bardot neckline, tiered dress offsets the valentine mood for that special brunch date. Accessorise the outfit with a dainty golden pair of earrings and a chic neck piece. Style the oufit with a pair of wedges, a clutch or sling bag.

** Lunch date look: For a brunch or lunch date, team a romantic dress with a pair of pencil heels for a touch of glamour, or flat sandals for a casual vibe. Versatility is the name of the game.

** Coffee date look: Opt for a simple yet classy bright schiffley dress. Pair the dress with white flats or sneakers and a long chain for a crisp, V-Day feel.

** Dinner date look: A great little black dress is always a good idea. Wear a classic black shift dress from the office straight to a dinner date. Lace ruffles and flutters and embellished neckline add to the chic look. Accessorise with a pair of chic earrings, a shiny clutch and stilettos and your good to go.

Virgin brows, glittery lids: Beauty trends to rule in 2019

Published

Eye Makeup

New Delhi, Jan 23: Glittery lids, virgin brows and bronzer are in this year, say experts.

Here we have shared some of the beauty trends that you can follow:

** Glitter means instant glam-up. However, you don’t need to swim in it. A little is perfect. Take a very tiny amount of gold or silver and lightly dust it on the inner corner of your eyes. A hint of glitter peeping from the inner corner of your eyelids is perfect to lend that unmistakable spark to your look. In case you want to get into the diva mood, cover your lids with chunky gold glitter. Always remember that a glitter trend never goes away.

** Instead of applying an overall eyeshadow, go for fading traces of colour on both upper and lower lids. Use different but complementing colours for upper and lower lids. Finish off with a liner and mascara and you are done.

** It’s time to ‘unfollow’ the perfectly shaped eyebrows and follow real and raw brows. While tweezers are kept aside, the eyebrows are groomed with the help of eyebrow brush. If the idea of bushy brows is too daunting for you, then you can shape your brows in a natural arch, instead of a total clean up.

** While bronzer makes its way back, heavy contouring is shown the exit door. Skip framing the face to perfection. Instead, take a large fluffy brush, and put the bronzer along the temple, cheekbones and jawline. And you are done. Keep the skin clean and luminous with a high-definition foundation.

Here are few more suggestions by the experts:

** Last year was the year of the hot red shade. This year will be all about subtle and dark tones of brown matte and gloss. Be it eyes, lips or cheeks highlighting, brown would be seen everywhere. Even the hair colour in brown would be more viral.

** Nude is the new chic: Keep your make-up natural and minimal to give it a fresh look. Speaking of nude make-up, women have found a new companion. Base oils. From a variety of oils ranging from rose to gold, women are loving this new trend. Sandalwood oil has always symbolised purity and its fragrance has stood the test of time.

** This year again, the winged eyeliner will be in trend.

** Smokey eyes are gorgeous as ever, but can be too bold for some. As bridal make-up moves into its understated glam phase, it is time to welcome the blurred eyeliner. With the flexibility of playing with colours and intensity that this smudged look allows, it manages to complement just about every age and style and is perfect for a bridal glam look.
