Look your best during Dandiya nights with perfect make-up

New Delhi, Sep 26: It’s that time of the year again when nine days of fasting and feasting take over our lives. As you get your outfit and jewellery together for those garba nights, it’s important to look into your makeup as well.

And if you want to look your best during the time of festivities? Opt for HD (high definition) make-up products, emerald green eyeshadow and soft coral lip shades, suggest experts.

Make-up experts Gunjan Gaur from ALPS Beauty Clinics and Aashmeen Munjal have listed make-up tips:

* Base: After the application of primer or BB crème, it’s time to apply high definition silicon base. The presence of minute crystal particle makes the skin glowing and gives an even finish. It gives an illusion effect to your make-up and makes you look scintillating even in the presence of lights. In order to look natural, HD make-up is suggested.

* Ethnic Eyes: Get those oh-so-sexy eyes with some hot eye shadows in shades of charcoal brown, deep bronze, and smokey black. You can’t go wrong with these for your ethnic look. If your skin tone is brown, then emphasise your eyes with a shade of emerald green. Put on some sparkling metallic shades like bronze, gun-metal grey or even gold, in keeping with the festive spirit.

* Cheeks: Use sculpting serum with blush on shades like peach, mild gold or blend of both peach and gold. If you want to avoid peach then blend gold with the lightest shade of your attire from your make-up palette.

* Contour: Try with a dark brown shade of blusher on the edges of your nose — over the chin to camouflage your double-chin and endow your face with a chiselled look this Dandiya night.

* Lips: Go light on the lips with soft corals. On the flip side, if you are a fan of darker colours, orange and deep red is the key for that contemporary bold and traditional look at the same time.

If your eye make-up is dark, let the lip make-up remain light and vice-versa.

* Hairstyle: Usually women who have long flowing long hair leave it open to make a style statement. The flowering bun is a really trendy option, all you have to do is make a simple knotted bun behind your head. Decorate it with a flower like sunflower or dahlia on the side or something as basic and elegant as a gajra.

The flower should cover at least half of your bun. Or if you want to avoid any of the floral made-ups, accessorise your hair bun with hair accessories like kundan pins, delicate kundan work chains to hold your bun.

You could also go for a fish braid, messy bun, side braid or any other braid-style to be the limelight of the Dandiya occasion.

* Nails: Splashing a few poppy hues of neon shades onto them. Hot pinks, luminous reds, poppy oranges, gleaming greens, brilliant yellow are some of the nail paints you could experiment with.

* Beauty spots: Dandiya is the only occasion probably in which black dots/bindis can be flaunted with innate grace — that too over any part of body. These dots add a dash of girly charm when drawn in a proper manner on chin, corners of the eyes, forehead, wrist, ankle or arms.

Get picture perfect hair, make up in easy ways

HAIRSTYLE MAKEUP

New Delhi, June 7: In the age of selfies, it’s important to get your hair and make up in place to get the best frame. So make sure you are opting for the perfect trend to keep the like button buzzing on social media.

Arpit Jain, MD and Founder, Auraine Botanicals and Vibhoar, CEO, NEU Blush list down ways for seemingly perfect and classy hair and make up everyday.

* Select hairstyles that are flattering to you: The hairstyle you opt for, should complement your face cut and the outfit that you are wearing. Avoid extreme hairstyles; you don’t want a hairdo bigger than your head. Try not to completely pull your hair back from your face, as this could make you look older.

* Eliminate flyaways: Ladies obsessed with picture perfect hair understand the necessity of moisturizing the hair to avoid flyaways. When our hair lacks moisture, it tends to look and feel dry, brittle and unhealthy. Spending time outside in the sun can majorly influence the moisture (or lack of) in your hair. Thus, use of hair serums, masks and sun protection is a must to maintain your hair’s health and protect it from damage.

* Go a little messy: Messy hair never goes out of style. So, just when you think you’ve styled your hair, toss your coif around to loosen things up in a right amount and you are all set to rock the camera.

* Select hair colour that enhances your hair: If you are planning to get those natural hair coloured, try the latest colours which go well with the Indian skin tone like honey brown, wine, caramel, chocolate brown in a balayage with highlights instead of going for global or simple highlighting. You must choose a hair colour that matches with your skin tone and don’t just go for any random hair colour.

* Don’t shy away from volumizing products: A regular and a great haircut is the foundation of any great hairstyle for fine hair-one that provides with volume in appearance. Other than this, a bit of strategic teasing along with volumizing products will work wonderfully on the camera.

* For the perfect make up

* Sunscreen is a must: No matter what, you should apply sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful ultraviolet rays. Apply sunscreen before you apply foundation or primer. Titanium based or Zinc oxide based sunscreens are considered to be best for the sensitive skin type. Summer make up kit must have a spray sunscreen or a gel-based sunscreen with minimum SPF 30.

* Kind of make up products: Use only long-wearing, smudge-proof, waterproof cosmetic that stays for long and gives a perfect finish to your makeup. Use face powder to set makeup and reduce the excess shine on your face. Foundation with a matte finish works as a miracle.

* Avoid the catchy look: Everyone loves a nice glow that shimmer gives us, but there is a big difference between a healthy radiance and an over-the-top shine. Do not use any cosmetics with a shimmery, shiny or glowing finish it can make you look bad in the photographs. A concealer and a nude lip colour is all you need this summer.

* Maximise the impact of those eyes: Curled lashes and mascara are musts as both open up your eyes, and the eyes are the focal point of a picture. Use clear light to medium colour eye shadow for highlighting. The more open they are, the more the light hits them and that’s what makes them twinkle.

* Play with the sharp features: Don’t forget to apply a dash of bronzer to nose, forehead, cheekbones and chin to get that perfect Brazilian look. Powered bronzers are light to use and do not turn streaky like cream bronzers in summer.

* The lip-factor: Wear bright lipstick as darker shades can have a minimizing effect on the lips; steer clear of a dark matte lip colour. It can look aging and unflattering. Sticking with brighter colours can help you look younger.

* And the final look: Brighten your smile ahead of time with a teeth whitener. Smile with your eyes and your mouth.

Shinjini Chawla, Wedding Expert at UrbanClap.com and Priyanka Mehta, Style Coach and Luxury Consultant list down some trends that one should bookmark for the bridal season this year:

* Sage green: This unexpected shade has now found love in Indian bridal lehenga space. You can opt for a toned-down version with a mix of embroidery or can go for a gota work. Either way, this colour is a breath of fresh air in among the reds and will instantly help you stand out.

* Ivory: The colour Ivory is regarded as a rich, royal hue due to the subtle sophistication it emotes. It is also an apt bridal colour for the brides who would like to experiment more with their make-up and jewellery. An ivory lehenga with subtle golden thread work can look alluring with a ruby or an emerald jadau polki jewellery set. A dupatta can be a traditional maroon for a more traditional function or even a translucent organza dupatta in a dusty gold shade can look extremely chic for a sangeet/mehendi function.

* Silver grey: A silver-grey lehenga with badla work or mirror work is for the more experimental brides who believe in breaking the archaic norms. Use beautiful and intricate grey benarasi brocades with silver thread work for bridal lehenga skirts. A peach brocade dupatta with silver grey lehenga with pearl and gold traditional jewellery can be the right mix of novelty and tradition. The silver grey trend has been seen burning the ramp internationally as well. I believe the Indian brides will certainly accept this trend for the coming season.
