Jammu/Srinagar, April 11: Polling for Jammu and Kashmir’s Jammu and aramulla Lok Sabha constituencies concluded on Thursday.
Voting which began at 7 a.m. will conclude at 6 p.m.
As per Poll officials the final voting figures in both the constituencies were being compiled and would be announced by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Shailendra Kumar at a press conference in Jammu later.
“An overall voter turnout of 46.3 per cent was recorded in the two constituencies till 3pm ,” an official told news agency IANs.
The official stated in the Jammu Lok Sabha seat, 58.7 per cent voters had exercised their franchise but in Baramulla, only 27.3 per cent voters turned out till 3 p.m.
The election is taking place under heavy security cover in Baramulla constituency, which spans Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts.
Queues of enthusiastic voters were seen in rural and border areas of Jammu Lok Sabha seat, polling was relatively muted in Baramulla.
