Liquor prices hiked in Maharashtra


As the Maharashtra government presented the budget for the state today, opposition MLAs burnt copies of the budget outside the state assembly.

In the budget, the government has raised liquor prices after Value Added Tax (VAT) was raised from 23.08% to 25.93%. Also, in a major push towards the promotion of digital transaction, the government has reduced the Value-Added Tax on the purchase od card swipe machines to nil from 13.5 %.
