Srinagar, Sep 14: Security forces on Thursday killed Lashkar commander Abu Ismail in Nowgam area of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ismail is believed to be behind the attack on Amarnath pilgrims, which took place in July this year.
The 26-year-old Pakistani national had infiltrated into India about two years ago and has recently taken charge of his group’s terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a brief encounter Ismail aide was also gunned down by security forces.
Eight pilgrims had lost their lives in the attack on a bus carrying Amarnath pilgrims from Gujarat and Maharashtra, when terrorists cordon it from all sides and opened fire.
After successfully completion of encounter, Jammu and Kashmir police held press conference.
“In a very brief encounter both the terrorists were killed. 2 AK 47s were recovered” said Muneer Khan, IGP Kashmir.
Khan congratulated his team by saying this operation is a result of people prayers.
“Militant leadership has to be eliminated because they also misguide our children and lure them into this”. he added.
Meanwhile, GOC Victor Force, BS Raju said operation was important because we are expecting vacuum in the top leadership of the terror outfit.
