New Delhi, January 11: Reacting on the ongoing agitation over the SC ban on Jallikattu, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday said that it is a “lesson for Hindutva forces” that support introduction of a common civil code in the country.

Heading on to microblogging site twitter Owaisi wrote:

“#Jallikattuprotest Lesson for Hindutva forces, Uniform Civil Code cannot be “imposed” this nation cannot have one CULTURE we celebrate all”

The proposed Uniform Civil Code aims to review the Muslim community’s personal laws on divorce and polygamy and are largely in favour of women.

Jallikattu is a popular bull-taming sport of Tamil Nadu and attached to religious sentiments of the state. After SC ban, huge protests and possessions have followed.

Yesterday TN chief Minister Prime Minister Modi and demanded an Ordinance on the same. But PM dashed out possibility by saying the ordinance is sub judice. However BJP allies such as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), backed the demand for lifting up the ban on Jallikattu.

Owaisi has always been at loggerheads with the central government and alleged Modi government for anti-Muslim policies. On Thursday, Owaisi said Modi would have claimed credit for building Red Fort and the Taj Mahal, had they not been built long ago.
