Samajwadi Party’s national general secretary and Mulayam’s cousin Ram Gopal Yadav on Thursday, in the middle of a furious quarrel between Mulayam’s family, said that the leadership had made a “mistake” by removing Akhilesh Yadav as the party’s state (UP) President.
Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav took away all the important and key portfolios from Shivpal (his uncle) after he was removed and replaced by Shivpal for the post of party’s state President. As this happened, Ram Gopal met Akhilesh in an endeavor to lessen the tension of the situation and he said that the differences emerged because of some misunderstandings.
Ram Gopal Yadav is considered close with Akhilesh. Gopal told the media that, “Differences do take place on some minor point and they can be resolved. The leadership, though not deliberately, had made a mistake when CM was removed from the post of (state) president (of SP).”
He further added that the CM should have been asked to resign from the post of party’s state president. Akhilesh could have been told that you shall continue as the CM and as elections are near, the state president’s work will be handled by Shivpal Yadav. Thus, there is nothing much in this matter but a misunderstanding. He lamented that there is “no crisis” in Samajwadi Party.
“Many times some decisions are made due to which people feel that there is some problem in the party. There is nothing like that. This happens in all parties in different situations,” Ram Gopal Yadav said.
Gopal, when asked about the CM taking decisions individually, said that The decisions taken by the CM fall under the directions of party president. Though some of the decision are taken by Akhilesh by his own and it is completely natural as he is the CM of Uttar Pradesh.
When asked about reports suggesting that Akhilesh will be made working President of SP for damage control, Ramgopal said, “It’s simply gossip.” “When netaji (Mulayam) is President, there is no such question.”
Akhilesh’s statement regarding the role of “outsiders” in the family feud, Ram Gopal said, “I will talk to the chief minister as to what he wanted to say through his statement. But there is a general perception in party workers, leaders, and people about the same.”
Though, Ram Gopal kept silent on SP Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh’s supposed role in this matter.
