Last day to use old Rs 500 notes at petrol pumps, air ticket counters


New Delhi, Dec 2: In order to get rid of old Rs 500 currency notes people across the nation flocked petrol pumps to fill their tanks to the full.

Today is the last day to use your demonetised notes of Rs 500 at Petrol pumps and airports as per the finance Ministry’s directive. However, earlier the deadline for use of old currency notes was December 15 but in a yet another flip flop the central government changed their decision. The center has rolled its decision on deadline of use of old currency twice on the pretext that some people are misusing the facility for hoarding black money.

From Midnight today toll plaza on the highways too would start charging you.

Meanwhile, the old Rs 500 notes will continue to be accepted for the other utility bill payments, at railway ticketing counters and at counters of government or public sector undertaking buses for the purchase of bus tickets till December 15, the government’s statement said.

For payments of LPG, or cooking gas also old notes of 500 will be accepted too.
