Ranchi, Aug 30: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday surrendered before a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court.
The former Bihar Chief Minister surrendered before Justice S.S. Prasad, who ordered he be sent to the Birsa Munda Central Jail.
From jail he could later be shifted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for treatment, the judge stated.
“Doctors of Asian Heart Institute (Mumbai) will do a checkup of Lalu Prasad Yadav and then inform Court about his condition”, Prabhat Kumar, Yadav’s Lawyer told media after Yadav surrendered before Court.
Last week, the Jharkhand High Court had directed the RJD chief to surrender by August 30. He was out on provisional bail since May 11.
Yadav has been convicted in four fodder scam cases since 2013 — the latest is Dumka treasury case in which a CBI court sentenced him to 14 years imprisonment.
