Lalu Prasad Yadav gets interim bail in IRCTC case

New Delhi, Dec 20: The Patiala House Court on Thursday granted interim bail to RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in IRCTC case.

He appeared before the court via video conferencing.

The Central Burau of Investigation (CBI) had filed the charge sheet in the case on April 16 this year.

Apart from Lalu Yadav and his family members, former union minister Prem Chand Gupta and his wife Sarla Gupta, BK Agarwal, former director of IRCTC, and former IRCTC director Rakesh Saxena were also named in the chargesheet.

While other names in the chargesheet include then group general managers of IRCTC V K Asthana and R K Goyal, Vijay Kochhar, Vinay Kochhar, both directors of Sujata Hotels and owners of Chanakya Hotel.

The CBI on July 5, last year filed a corruption case against Lalu, his wife Rabri Devi, Tejashwi and others for alleged irregularities in the allotment of an operational contract of two IRCTC hotels to a private firm, when the RJD supremo was the railway minister.
